What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is clearly the comfortable alternative to metal braces for adults. There are no brackets, wires or restrictions that come with traditional braces. Instead, clear removable aligners are precisely fitted to gradually and gently straighten and evenly space your teeth.

How do I start Invisalign?

The path to perfect teeth begins with a visit to an Invisalign-trained dentist such as those at Westgate Dental Care. At Westgate, a free consultation is scheduled to explain the entire Invisalign process and to answer any questions you may have.

Like any orthodontic procedure, an initial exam will determine the overall health of your gums. If your gums are healthy, our dentists take precise measurements of your mouth, teeth and bite using our 3D digital scanner. No sticky, pasty molds are required. From there, a personal treatment plan is created just for you.

How long does Invisalign take?

Cosmetically pleasing and nearly invisible clear aligners are worn 20 to 22 hours a day. A new set of aligners is provided every one or two weeks. On average, the typical treatment plan takes 12 to 18 months to complete. Our dentists will regularly monitor progress and ensure aligners fit correctly.

So impressive of Invisalign that one of our very own dentists recently decided to begin treatment herself. Dr. Aurora Hart says, “Through the years my own teeth have begun to shift, causing crowding in my front teeth. In addition to the cosmetic aspects, the crowding has also adversely affect my ability to cleanse the area efficiently. I feel so strongly in the efficacy of Invisalign that I am beginning treatment myself to improve the overall look and health of my smile.”

Caring for your aligners

Your clear aligners, also called trays, are easy to care for. Simply clean your aligners whenever they are removed using antibacterial soap. Regular cleaning keeps your mouth and breath fresh.

Using a toothbrush or toothpaste on your aligners is not advised because these can scratch aligners and create spaces for bacteria to live.

Better oral health with Invisalign

Unlike metal braces that can trap bacteria and discolor teeth, you can brush and floss normally when you remove your Invisalign trays. Plus, you can continue with regular check-ups and cleanings with our dentists. That ensures optimal oral health and allows your teeth to look their best when treatment is completed.

How much does Invisalign cost?

Invisalign is comparable to the cost of conventional braces. Westgate Dental Care offers convenient payment options to accommodate any budget. Plus, our staff will help you navigate your insurance coverage and help you use healthcare savings accounts to your advantage.

Westgate Dental Care has a healthy obsession for dentistry. That includes our passion to help you gain more confidence by improving the way you look and how you feel about your smile.
